This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all services provided by doddle (ABN 17 829 498 367). It exists to protect the quality and reliability of our platform for all customers. By using our services, you agree to comply with this policy.
1. Prohibited content
You may not host, distribute, or link to content that:
- Is illegal under Australian law or the law of any jurisdiction where the content is accessed
- Contains or distributes malware, viruses, trojans, or other malicious software
- Is used for phishing, fraud, or impersonation
- Infringes on the intellectual property rights of others, including pirated software, media, or themes/plugins you are not licensed to use. This includes the use of nulled or unlicensed premium plugins and themes (such as cracked copies of paid plugins), which are a common source of malware and will result in immediate suspension
- Contains adult, sexually explicit, or pornographic material
- Promotes violence, harassment, discrimination, or hate speech
- Collects personal information without consent or in violation of applicable privacy laws
2. Prohibited activities
You may not use our services to:
- Send unsolicited bulk or commercial email (spam), operate mailing lists, or conduct any form of mass email marketing
- Mine cryptocurrency or run any computational workloads unrelated to serving your website
- Conduct network scanning, port scanning, or security probing of any system you do not own
- Launch or facilitate denial-of-service (DoS/DDoS) attacks
- Run open proxies, anonymous relays, or TOR exit nodes
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts, servers, or networks
- Interfere with or degrade the performance of the platform for other customers
- Fail to take reasonable security precautions, resulting in sustained brute-force attacks, DDoS traffic, or other abuse directed at your site that impacts the wider platform. In such cases, we may temporarily suspend the affected site to protect other customers
3. Outbound email
Each site is limited to 100 outbound emails per day. This allowance is intended for transactional emails only, such as password resets, order confirmations, and form notifications.
Bulk email, newsletters, and marketing campaigns must not be sent through our servers. We strongly recommend using a dedicated email delivery service (such as Resend, Mailgun, or Postmark) for reliable email delivery.
4. Resource usage
Our hosting is a shared environment. Each account has allocated resource limits for CPU, memory, storage, and I/O. These limits are enforced automatically to ensure fair usage across all customers.
If your site consistently operates at or near its resource limits, or otherwise degrades performance for other customers on the platform, we may contact you to discuss optimisation or a plan change. In cases where the impact is severe or immediate, we may suspend the affected site first and contact you afterwards.
Specific activities that commonly cause resource issues include poorly optimised database queries, unoptimised plugins or themes, unmanaged cron jobs, and large uncompressed media files. High-frequency automated tasks such as cron jobs running more than once every 5 minutes should be offloaded to an external service or optimised to reduce load.
5. Storage
Storage provided with your plan is for website content only. This includes your WordPress files, themes, plugins, media uploads, and databases.
You may not use your hosting storage for purposes unrelated to your hosted website, such as storing personal file archives, backups of other sites or systems, or hosting large downloads for distribution.
Storing multiple large, full-site backups within your hosting account (for example, via backup plugins like UpdraftPlus) is not permitted. If you use a backup plugin, configure it to send backups to an external destination such as S3, Google Drive, or Dropbox rather than storing them locally.
6. Reselling
You are welcome to use doddle to host websites on behalf of your own clients (for example, as a freelancer or agency). You remain responsible for ensuring that all sites under your account comply with this policy and our Terms of Service.
7. Enforcement
If we identify a violation of this policy, we will take action proportionate to the severity and nature of the issue:
- Minor or first-time violations: We will contact you and ask you to resolve the issue within a reasonable timeframe.
- Repeated or unresolved violations: We may suspend your site or account until the issue is addressed.
- Severe violations: We may immediately suspend or terminate your account without prior notice. This includes activities that pose a security threat, are clearly illegal, or cause significant harm to the platform or other customers.
Where an account is terminated for a breach of this policy, no refund will be provided.
8. Reporting violations
If you believe a site hosted on our platform is in breach of this policy, please contact us at support@doddle.au. We will review all reports and take appropriate action.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or through your dashboard at least 14 days before they take effect.
